D2.03 Telecommunication networks, services and technology

Advisory Group D2.03 is a group for sharing experiences with the scope of analyzing the issues of concern across power utilities in the field of telecommunications and proposing potential work to the Study Committee D2. Its focus is on the Utility view of telecoms rather than the technology itself which, in great majority, is driven by the mainstream telecommunication market and applications.

The scope of the AG D2.03 can be defined (as per the SCD2 strategic plan) as responding to the following questions:

  • Facing the evolution of the telecom world, how can Utilities continue to provide the required telecom services with an appropriate quality of service to their existing applications?
  • What is the impact of new Utility applications and systems on the communication network?
  • What is the state-of-the-art in dedicated telecom technologies and dedicated communication applications? And how can these new telecom technologies be applied in an appropriate manner to power system applications and networks?
